Stefan Lukas
Founder & CEO


Stefan Lukas is a Middle East analyst, author, and consultant specializing in the security and foreign policies of the Middle East and North Africa. He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Middle East Minds, an analysis and consulting firm based in Berlin.

In his work, he combines scholarly analysis, regional expertise, and practical consulting. He advises ministries, companies, foundations, and other institutions on political and security developments in the Near and Middle East. His key areas of focus include regional conflict dynamics, geopolitical power shifts, the role of external actors, and security developments in Iran, the Gulf states, and other countries in the region.

In addition to his consulting and analytical work, Stefan Lukas is regularly involved in academic teaching. He is a visiting lecturer at the Bundeswehr Command and Staff College in Hamburg and teaches courses at universities on security policy in the Near and Middle East, most recently at the Chair of International War and Conflict Studies at the University of Potsdam. After completing his studies at the Universities of Rostock and Greifswald, he worked as a teaching assistant at the Federal Academy for Security Policy in Berlin. Since 2020, he has also served as an advisor to the Society for Security Policy in Berlin.


As part of delegation and study trips, Stefan Lukas regularly travels throughout the region and participates in international conferences. His writing includes books, studies, analyses, scholarly articles, and newspaper articles for German and international media outlets and institutions. Together with Bastian Matteo Scianna, he published the book “The Middle East in a Globalized World” in May 2024.
